Authorities, alongside FBI Continue Search for Missing Lummi Elder Besalynn M. James

BELLINGHAM, WA – The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the FBI and the Lummi Nation Police Department, is actively searching for Besalynn M. James, a missing elder of the Lummi Nation who disappeared last month.

James, 62, was last seen on January 21, 2025. She is described as 5’1″ tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She has a scar on her right arm and a tattoo that reads “BES” on her arm.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 360-778-6663.

Community members who wish to assist in search efforts can reach out to Lummi Victims of Crime at (360) 312-2015.

This case remains a high priority for local law enforcement and tribal authorities, who are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings.

Bellingham Metro News posted a community wide alert earlier Friday morning tagging all 47,000 page followers with the flyer in hopes to get more eyes on the case.
