BELLINGHAM, WA – Blaine Sector Border Patrol agents, in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), have arrested two previously deported individuals in Bellingham and Sedro-Woolley.

On January 22, 2025, Blaine agents arrested Marco Hernandez-Ortiz in Bellingham. Hernandez-Ortiz was previously deported from the United States in 2021 but allegedly reentered the country illegally. In December 2024, he was arrested by the Bellingham Police Department on charges of Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

Additionally, Blaine agents, in coordination with HSI and ICE ERO, arrested Cornelio Lopez-Paulino, an illegal alien from Mexico, in Sedro-Woolley. Lopez-Paulino was deported in 2018 and allegedly later returned to the U.S. unlawfully. In 2024, he was taken into custody by the Sedro-Woolley Police Department on charges of DUI and Reckless Endangerment. Following his arrest by federal authorities, he will also undergo removal proceedings.

The Blaine Sector Border Patrol emphasized their commitment to enforcing immigration laws and ensuring public safety by apprehending individuals who reenter the U.S. illegally after deportation.

“These arrests highlight our ongoing efforts to identify and remove individuals who pose a threat to our communities and violate U.S. immigration laws,” said a spokesperson for the Blaine Sector.

Further updates regarding the cases of Hernandez-Ortiz and Lopez-Paulino will be provided as they progress through the legal process.
