BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON. – Chick-fil-A has formally responded to the City of Bellingham’s plan review comments as the fast-food giant continues its pursuit to open a new location at 4030 Cordata Parkway.

Documents submitted by Chick-fil-A’s project team detail adjustments made to meet city and state requirements, including environmental safeguards, energy code compliance, EV infrastructure updates, and visibility accommodations along Cordata Parkway.

Among the major revisions:

• A critical area fence and signage were added to protect nearby sensitive land.

• Non-native landscaping species were replaced with regionally appropriate options.

• EV charging infrastructure was updated to meet Washington’s strict energy standards, and lighting plans were revised to reduce off-site glare.

• The team addressed building code and fire safety requirements, including signage, sample taps for fire lines, and future CO2 permit handling.

• A geotechnical memorandum was submitted to confirm safe development near landslide-prone areas.

The developer, 4G Development & Consulting, also noted that right-of-way dedication for a future Cordata Parkway bike lane is underway—a requirement before the city will issue a building permit.

The site plan has also been updated to ensure rooftop mechanical units remain hidden from street view and that architectural integrity is preserved even with operational adjustments like spandrel glass.

According to the project architect, final construction approvals remain dependent on completion of infrastructure, energy commissioning, and further coordination with the City’s planning department.

The new response is now under review for the building permit.

Bellingham Metro News will continue to follow this project as it progresses toward construction and opening.
