WHATCOM COUNTY — Multiple “No Kings” rallies are scheduled to take place across Northwest Washington on Saturday, March 28, including events in Whatcom County, Skagit County and the San Juan Islands.
According to publicly posted event listings, rallies are planned in downtown Everson in the Nooksack Valley from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., in Bellingham from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., in Anacortes from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Orcas Island from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., on Shaw Island from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., and in Mount Vernon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Organizers describe the events as peaceful demonstrations and state that participants are expected to act lawfully and avoid confrontation.
Event descriptions shared publicly online say the gatherings are focused on civic engagement and opposition to what organizers describe as threats to democratic principles. Organizers also note a commitment to nonviolent action and state that weapons of any kind should not be brought to the events.
