BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON. – Pickford Film Center (PFC), a beloved cornerstone of Downtown Bellingham’s arts and culture scene since 1998, is set to expand with a second location, thanks to a commercial property loan from Bank of the Pacific.

The independent theater, known for its dedication to showcasing independent, foreign, and documentary films, has long been a staple of the downtown community. Since moving from its original space in the Allied Arts Building on Cornwall Avenue to its current home at 1318 Bay Street, PFC has continued to enrich the local film scene with festivals, special events, and curated screenings of big-budget films in an intimate setting.

The upcoming expansion will see the Pickford opening a new three-screen venue at 105 Grand Avenue, the former site of a skateboard shop and tattoo parlor. This development marks a significant milestone in the theater’s mission to bring diverse and engaging cinematic experiences to Bellingham audiences.

“We are thrilled to take this next step in our journey,” said a representative from Pickford Film Center. “This new location will allow us to offer even more programming, create additional opportunities for community engagement, and continue celebrating the art of film.”

The financial backing from Bank of the Pacific highlights local investment in the arts and community-driven businesses. With this loan, PFC will be able to renovate and transform the space to meet the needs of its growing audience while preserving the intimate and eclectic atmosphere that has made it a regional favorite.

Further details on the timeline for the new location’s opening are expected to be announced in the coming months. In the meantime, Pickford Film Center will continue offering its regular programming at the Bay Street location while preparing to expand its impact on Bellingham’s cultural landscape.
