Severe Cold Weather Alert Issued for Western Washington

SEATTLE, WA – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle has issued a cold weather advisory for parts of Western Washington, warning residents of dangerously low temperatures expected overnight.

Affected Areas:

  • Western Skagit County
  • Everett and Vicinity
  • East Puget Sound Lowlands
  • Bellevue
  • Seattle

Forecasted Conditions:

  • Temperatures: Expected to drop between 15 to 25 degrees Fahrenheit overnight.
  • Timeframe: The advisory is in effect from 10 PM Thursday to 10 AM Friday (February 6–7, 2025).
  • Potential Impacts: Prolonged exposure to the cold could lead to an increased risk of frostbite and hypothermia.

Precautionary Measures:

  • Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
  • Check on vulnerable individuals, including elderly family members, friends, and neighbors.
  • Use portable heaters safely, following manufacturer guidelines to prevent fire hazards.
  • Avoid using generators or grills indoors due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on any further alerts from local authorities.
