State Patrol Seeks Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage in Fatal Collision on I-5 Near Stanwood

STANWOOD, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is actively investigating a fatal collision that occurred at 1:02 p.m. on January 20, 2025, on northbound Interstate 5, just north of milepost 212.

According to WSP, a silver 2012 Infiniti G37 sedan was traveling northbound when it attempted to pass traffic on the left shoulder. The vehicle lost control, crossing all lanes of traffic to the right before colliding with the trailer of a white 2020 Kennewick T680 semi-truck.

Witnesses reported that the Infiniti was allegedly racing a green 2021 Dodge Challenger prior to the crash.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or observed the vehicles racing before the crash to contact WSP Detective Jeff Rhue at (360) 654-1142 or via email at [email protected]. Investigators are also seeking in-car dash camera footage that may provide further insight into the events leading up to the collision.
