Bellingham, Washington. – When you think of a market, you think of farmers’ markets or flea markets. With that in mind, I wasn’t looking for much, maybe something new, or possibly not find anything.

I would’ve never imagined getting that and more. Wonderz Market began in 2020 as a traveling thrift store, offering affordable second-hand clothing from the 1950s to the 2000s.

They transitioned to in-person vending in July 2022 and spent the next 20 weekends in Seattle and Portland at various art and vintage markets.

By February 2023, they launched the name Wonderz Market; by May 2023, they had grown from 25 vendors indoors to nearly 100 vendors outdoors.

Since then, they have worked tirelessly to develop it into the vibrant market it is today.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting Elijah, the owner/operator, and Milton Rosario, the co-owner of Wonderz Market. The aim is to unite the community by supporting LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and other marginalized communities, highlighting local artists, vendors, and curators.

However, I could never have imagined it would be so much more! The market featured everything from up-cycled clothes and sculptures made from junk to tooth gems and even tattoos.

I was amazed by its safe and inclusive environment, which motivated me to meet the incredible people behind it and learn their stories.

I highly recommend visiting them at 1215 Cornwall Ave. They feature unique items from local artists! The market occurs every other weekend. The next one is scheduled for February 22nd and 23rd. You don’t know what’s in store, I wouldn’t miss it, neither should you.
