ISLAND COUNTY, WA — A 15-year-old girl from Oak Harbor was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning on State Route 20 near Libbey Road, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The crash occurred around 3:05 a.m. when a 2022 Dodge Charger, traveling northbound at high speed, lost control. Authorities say the vehicle veered into oncoming lanes, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole.

Victim Identified as Young Teenager

The teen driver, whose name has not been released due to her age, was pronounced dead at the scene. WSP officials said seatbelt use remains undetermined, and next-of-kin notification is pending.

Cause of the Crash

Investigators have attributed the fatal collision to driving too fast for conditions. It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved, and the investigation is ongoing.

No Other Vehicles Involved

The Dodge Charger was totaled in the crash. No additional vehicles or individuals were involved, WSP confirmed.
