Fatal Crash Under Investigation on SR20 in Skagit County

SKAGIT COUNTY, WA – A fatal single-vehicle collision occurred Saturday afternoon on State Route 20 near MP99 in Skagit County, resulting in the death of one individual.

According to a Washington State Patrol press memo, the vehicle was traveling eastbound on SR20 when it failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, went down an embankment, and struck a tree. The driver, a 47-year-old woman from Lynnwood, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident took place around 3:00 PM and involved no other vehicles or pedestrians. Emergency crews from Skagit Fire District 10 responded to the scene.

Authorities confirmed that the rider was wearing a USDOT-compliant helmet, and there were no indications of drugs or alcohol being involved at this time. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.

BMN will not be releasing the name of the deceased individual at this time.
