BELLINGHAM, WA — The sunshine was out, kids were playing, and Whatcom County was buzzing with excitement. Thursday, April 30, marked the grand opening of Chick-fil-A, the popular restaurant known for its chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, cold drinks, and more.
Driving up to the building, it was clear things were going to be busy—but nothing compared to the giant cow sitting right outside holding a sign with the iconic slogan, “Eat Mor Chikin.” Finding parking was a bit complicated due to the crowds, but helpful signs and traffic guidance made it easier for both drive-thru customers and those parking.
After finding a spot and playing a game of frogger through the sea of cars, you were greeted by a spacious patio filled with tables, chairs, umbrellas, and even outdoor games for both kids and adults.
Inside, guests had two entry options: one path led directly to the ordering area, while the other guided visitors into the dining room. With the grand opening crowds in full swing, the dining room was packed—but don’t let the lines deter you. Chick-fil-A’s service was polite, efficient, and impressively fast.
Team members moved through the lines with tablets in hand, taking orders to help speed things along. “My mom only stood in line for five minutes before she was able to order the food!” one guest from Canada shared.
The inside was filled with excitement as voices buzzed and families gathered, whether they were trying Chick-fil-A for the first time or enjoying a familiar favorite now much closer to home. Balloon arches decorated the restaurant, and loose balloons floated around for kids to enjoy.
There’s also a small indoor play area for children. While it may not be as large as some other Chick-fil-A locations, it offers enough to keep little ones entertained while waiting for food.
As someone who once lived in Cincinnati, where Chick-fil-A was a regular guilty pleasure, having one so much closer to home feels especially exciting.
Although I didn’t personally experience the drive-thru, many guests online reported wait times of only around 15 minutes. So, if you’re craving Chick-fil-A but worried about long opening-day lines, it seems the team is working hard to make the experience quick, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone.
