EVERSON, WA – The Everson Police Department has addressed recent rumors circulating on social media regarding an incident on Nooksack Avenue. Contrary to multiple online posts suggesting gunshots and heavy law enforcement presence, authorities have confirmed that no shooting occurred.
At approximately 8:47 PM on January 22, 2024, officers responded to a CPR in-progress call in the 700 block of Nooksack Avenue. Upon arrival, Everson PD, Sumas PD, and the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office assisted in performing CPR and deployed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Shortly thereafter, personnel from Whatcom County Fire District 1 arrived and assumed medical care. The male subject was transported to the hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced deceased.
During the response, another household member experienced a medical emergency and was also transported to the hospital for treatment. Initial investigations by law enforcement have determined that no foul play is suspected in the incident. The case has now been handed over to the Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Office for further review.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time,” the Everson Police Department stated.
