Chewzy Cookies coming to Bellingham
BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Blaine-based cookie business is expanding into Bellingham, taking over the small drive-thru building at 1259 Barkley Boulevard near Lowe’s and Sunset Square.
Chewzy Cookies plans to hold its grand opening Saturday, Oct. 3, bringing its made-from-scratch cookies, coffee and specialty drinks to the former Niener Niener Wiener location. The building has housed a handful of businesses over the years, including Big Bites, which opened there in 2022 after Niener Niener Wiener.
The company announced Friday that free cookie samples will be available throughout grand opening day.
Chewzy Cookies started in Blaine as a small baking business selling cookies online and at community events before moving toward a permanent storefront. The company has also sold cookies at events around Blaine, including community celebrations and outdoor markets.
The Bellingham location will offer more than a dozen cookie varieties, with the company listing flavors including chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, molasses, triple chocolate and other rotating options. Gluten-free options are also planned. Cookies are currently priced at $2 each or $20 per dozen through the company’s online store.
The menu will go beyond cookies. Chewzy says the new shop will serve coffee made with locally roasted organic beans, along with its own take on flavored “dirty sodas,” which the business calls MxSodas. Sugar-free and lower-sugar drink options are planned, along with White Lotus energy drinks. The company has also discussed offering cookie ice cream sandwiches.
Washington Department of Revenue records reviewed by Bellingham Metro News list Chewzy Cookies as a sole proprietorship owned by B.J.M. The business has active registered trade names for Chewzy and Chewzy Cookies dating to April 2025. Records also show an active Bellingham general business endorsement first issued in August.
The move gives Chewzy Cookies its first dedicated Bellingham storefront after operating out of Blaine and building its business through online orders and local events.
The compact Barkley Boulevard building is recognizable for its drive-thru setup and prominent roadside location just east of Interstate 5. Chewzy began installing signage at the property ahead of the opening, and the company has been sharing photos of the new location as preparations continue.
Chewzy Cookies is scheduled to open at 1259 Barkley Blvd., Bellingham, on Saturday, Oct. 3. Free samples are planned throughout the day.
