LYNDEN, WA — A woman accused of allegedly striking a cyclist in a hit-and-run incident in Lynden has reportedly been identified after an anonymous tip led investigators to the driver, according to a public update shared by the victim’s husband Saturday evening.
The update, which was posted in a Lynden community Facebook group, stated that the driver is not believed to be a Lynden resident and has allegedly accepted responsibility in connection to the incident. Official charging information had not been publicly released as of Saturday night, and Bellingham Metro News has not independently verified whether any criminal charges have been filed.
The cyclist involved in the crash is continuing to recover and is expected to undergo additional orthopedic treatment and physical therapy in the weeks ahead, according to the family.
The case had gained significant attention across the Lynden area in recent days as community members shared surveillance footage, reposted appeals for information, and worked to help identify the vehicle involved. The family thanked those who submitted tips, reposted information online, and assisted investigators throughout the search.
The post also recognized the Lynden Police Department for following up on reported leads connected to the investigation. Community members flooded the comment section with messages of support and relief after learning that a driver had reportedly been identified.
The family, who said they are relatively new to the Lynden area after moving there in September, described the response from local residents as overwhelming and said the situation showed the strength of the community during a difficult time.
Bellingham Metro News was the first news outlet to report on the story after the incident occurred in late April.
